Joseph F. Hickey was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey.  He has a Bachelors of Arts Degree from the National Labor College in Maryland. He spent over forty years devoted to the Iron Workers Union,  Local 11 in Newark, New Jersey and the construction industry. Before his retirement in May of 2008, Joe spent twenty two years as the Business Agent/Financial Secretary of Local 11. He served in various capacities for the Union during his forty years of service.  He was an apprentice, journeyman, shop steward, foreman, and superintendent. Joe was, also, the Recording Secretary, Treasurer, Examining Board member, and a Delegate to the Iron Workers of Northern Jersey District Council. He was an instructor at the Iron Workers District Council Training Facility. Joe has proudly served on various committees and was a delegate to many conferences and conventions pertaining to the Building Trades and the construction industry.

Joe has always dedicated part of his life to assisting others through civil service.   Joe was a Dover Township Police Officer, a Millington Volunteer Firefighter teaching various courses at the fire department.  Joe had the privilege of serving his country in the United States Marine Corp. Joe always supported his daughter Mary’s love for sports, being her softball coach for many years and working the scoreboard while she played basketball.  He participated in a Newark based program, assisting homeowners in home improvements. Joe also volunteered his services at his church, his daughter’s grammar school and later her high school. He has been a steadfast supporter and advisor on the Board of Advisors of the Colleen Giblin Foundation, a charity which is committed to finding a cure, for childhood neurological diseases.

Joe has three United State Patents.  He is also an author having written poetry, a short novel, several children’s books, and a golf book.  Joe, along with his partners, founded a company called 4-Ever Level, which produces revolutionary picture hooks and related products that are proudly made in America. He is currently working on a golf app with his partners called My Caddy.

Joe is an active sports participant, with a genuine love for the game of golf.  He has been married to his wife, Eileen, for forty three years and they have one daughter, Mary, who graduated from Seton Hall University.  Joe currently resides in Ortley Beach, New Jersey.
